Gold Standard is a clothing range that was sampled from a painting (‘Gold Standard’. relief ink on canvas, 170 x 250 cm. 2023) done by the artist Byron Masixole Eksteen.Â

The brand is in demonstration of alchemy with alchemy being one’s inner transformation from rock bottom into a reality of prosperity. The creation of gold from nothing was demonstrated by the way the artist Byron created the painting to be gold from mixing the colors from the primary ones.

As a result of the visual patterns printed on the items being drawn from Byron Masixole Eksteen’s work it creates the pieces to be unique. There is no other fashion brand or designer using visual prints and shapes on their clothing that is even remotely similar. taken into further consideration is the fact that each line and shade was created by hand during the timeless period of creating the original work where the artist spend countless hours to create the work.Â

The patterns are designed to suit the body with the blazers going for a very geometric masculine feel and the dress patterns are suited to compliment the figure of a women’s body.

There has always been an issue with branding and how it buys into people as if they are clones needed to wear brands to form of sense of originality and identity.

Gold Standard is here to brand you as gold. and for you to celebrate your power of transformation and inner love.Â

Currently the range is in two brackets; poly material range which uses sublimation printing, and the other,  more exclusive range*, is created from cotton that was treated with a CMYK pigment died ink printing process. The color range of gold varies from each item of clothing as we spent weeks on end colourizing and test printing the work on the materials. The colors of gold are designed to be more subdued with the men’s cotton range boasting a sense of calmness and control, whereas with the ladies range the golden color has been selected to speak a language of of glamour making her stand out as the only person in a crowed room.

Over time we will release more clothing items including women’s dresses.
